About
Waves Theory EMDR
A trauma-informed therapy practice rooted in connection, emotional safety, and healing through life's waves.
Emotions, experiences, and growth often move in waves—some seasons feel calm, while others feel overwhelming. Healing isn't linear, and you don't have to navigate it alone.
At Waves Theory, we believe that with the right support, you can learn to ride the waves instead of being overcome by them.
Why Waves Theory?
Waves Theory was created through a shared passion for helping others navigate trauma, emotional overwhelm, and life's transitions with greater support and understanding.
As partners in both life and practice, we built this space with the belief that healing happens best through connection, compassion, and emotional safety. We're honored to walk alongside you as you move through life's waves and toward the healing you deserve.

Hannah’s approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and deeply person-centered. She believes healing begins within a space where clients feel emotionally safe enough to explore difficult experiences without fear of judgment. Using EMDR therapy, DBT-informed skills, and expressive techniques, Hannah helps clients better understand their emotions, build resilience, and process experiences that may feel overwhelming or unresolved. Her work is grounded in helping teens and adults move toward greater regulation, self-awareness, and lasting emotional growth at a pace that feels supportive and sustainable.
Desiree’s therapeutic approach is grounded, affirming, and trauma-informed, with a strong focus on helping clients understand the deeper patterns shaping their emotional experiences and relationships with themselves. Through EMDR, DNMS, and compassionate therapeutic support, she works alongside clients to process trauma, rebuild self-trust, and create meaningful emotional change. Desiree believes therapy should feel collaborative, safe, and deeply human, allowing clients space to heal while honoring their individual experiences, identities, and personal strengths.

Desiree is a designated social work supervisor for individuals working on their clinical license. Her approach to supervision is similar to her theraputic approach of providing a safe environment while offering guidance with every wave that flows into the newest season of your career.

EMDR?
What is
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain naturally process and heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences that may feel emotionally "stuck."

Through bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements or tapping—EMDR helps your brain reprocess painful memories, emotions, and beliefs so they no longer feel as intense or intrusive. This allows your nervous system to move toward balance, clarity, and emotional relief.

At Waves Theory, EMDR is offered in a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment. We move at a pace that honors your comfort, builds on your strengths, and supports lasting change from the inside out.
Reduce the emotional intensity connected to painful memories
Process experiences that continue to impact daily life and relationships
Feel more present, connected, and emotionally grounded
Decrease anxiety, panic, or hypervigilance
Heal negative core beliefs and self-worth wounds
Improve nervous system regulation
Healing is not about changing the past—it's about helping your brain and body carry those experiences differently, with less distress and greater self-understanding.
EMDR and DNMS can work beautifully together by combining trauma processing with emotional healing and support. While EMDR helps the brain reprocess painful memories so they feel less overwhelming, DNMS helps strengthen inner safety and emotional resilience—making trauma work feel gentler and more grounded for many people.
DNMS & EMDR TOGETHER
a gentle approach to healing
Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS) is a gentle, trauma-informed therapy approach designed to help people heal emotional wounds by strengthening healthier, more supportive inner experiences.
Rather than focusing on reliving painful memories in detail, DNMS helps clients build a greater sense of emotional safety, connection, self-worth, and resilience.
You don't have to navigate life's waves alone.
We're here to help you find healing, connection, and hope.
